A Girl Can Dream: United N‏ude-Eamz Ankle 2

Okay Shoejunkies. While I was collecting all pertinent shoe data, I came cross this line at the Micheal Jordan of online shoe retailers, Zappos. I have this thing for mid-century modern design. So I was floored when I came across United Nude. There designs are based on the iconic ideas of mid-century designers like Mies van der Rohe and Charles and Ray Eames. Brilliant concept. Brilliant shoes. I was a little behind the radar on this one, they've been around since 2003. But If there is a dream shoe, dream company, it would be United Nude. The Eamz Ankle 2 put together one of my favorite iconic foot the Eames lounge chair with a gorgeous well constructed walkable shoe. Also in black, theres a retro-modern feel in the clean lines and molded cushioned foot bed. The strap across the vamp is thin enough to be sexy, thick enough to functional. I love good design and the heel is like your floating above it all. The price? On sale for $173.00 @Zappos. More info and styles in this interview w/ Galahad Clarke - head shoemaker of United Nude.

A Girl Can Dream: In Prada Leopard

Oh the feel of a brand new pair of Pradas. Prada "Camel Leopard Print Pony Hair Pumps", that is. They are so um... vampy. 40s/50s glamour is alive and kickin'. Hello crop pants, pencil skirt. Hi ya' skinny jeans and hem tied cargoes. Patricia Fields would slap those on Carrie Bradshaw in a second. Love the gold piping around the edges. And the strap over the vamp. These shoes rule. And for a measly $556.00 at Bluefly.com, who can resist? Let's get em'.

Alternately...

For those who want to live the dream now and save up for the big one later, Nine West "Doniella" and "Liatris" also Nine West, are good alternatives. And contribute their own flavor to the mix.

Doniella $82.95 at Zappos has extra edge with the criss-cross strap come buckled vamp. Same looks can apply, maybe a long tunic and jeans. It can add a little downtown to whatever look.

While the Liatris $89.00 at Nine West.com, what can I say? Not only is it an alternative, but a brilliant look on it's own. Elegant in it's simplicity, but winks at you with the covered stack only slightly revealed at the "peek-a-boo" toe. Same looks with a little party girl mixed in for spice. Yum...

A Girl Can Dream

If you're like me, You dream of a day, when you are accustomed to the ambrosia...the bouquet... that garden of earthly delights that new shoe smell represents. The sight of a Gucci or Christian Louboutin not in the pages of some fancy french magazine, but in your closet . Oh to be "rich and spoiled" mainly spoiled:). This thought keeps you company as you scan the pages of Vogue, Lucky or the weekly waterfall of "celeb doings" at Us Weekly. Soooo.... I'm introducing the new "A Girl Can Dream" weekly featured shoe in honor of that thought .

Now lets say our mantra together:
I have a dream... that one day the brands like Chanel, Manolo Blanik, Sergio Rossi and Christian Louboutin will be as familiar to my feet and as Nine West, Nina and Steve Madden. And all shoes will live, unoffended, together as one united closet.

Felt good to me. I know, it's a little cheeky, but we've got to think like that. They're all shoes and they will wear out. So lets do it together. I mean why even keep our feet fabulous if we don't deserve a little pedi-therapy? Right?
Hey, a girl can dream. ; )

See ya' Friday... Look there's one now!!!
